Job Title:  Commercial Sow Farm Manager

Department/Location of Position:  Swine/ Thompson, MO

Position Reports To:  Head of Sow Production

 

Primary Job Responsibilities: Oversight of 8,500 /hd Commercial Sow Production and staff

  • Oversee the employees and department leads to ensure that all daily responsibilities/tasks are performed
  • Ensure the health and welfare of all animals in terms of nutrition, medication and environment
  • Coordinate overall animal flow and understanding its effect on production
  • Perform regular employee management, problem solving and administrative duties (i.e. production record keeping, budgets, handling employee concerns/problems, etc.)
  • Lead and direct the farm team in meeting production targets through training of parameters
  • Provide development, instruction and constructive feedback to department leads and employees
  • Develop and adhere to all standard operating procedures and ensuring that all farm personnel do the same
  • Monitor and resolve all farm maintenance and grounds keeping needs, as well as answer alarm calls as needed including after hours
  • Maintain and enforce all biosecurity rules and practices
  • Order and monitor all needed basic supplies
  • Report weekly on site manure levels
  • Aid in hiring and on-boarding of new personnel

In order to apply for this position, the candidate must meet the following requirements:

Skill & Knowledge Requirements:

  • 4+ years of experience in commercial swine facilities
  • 2+ years of experience in personnel management
  • Knowledge of sow flow concepts
  • Must possess organization, leadership, production, problem solving, and communication skills.
  • Ability to use a computer effectively, including use of MS Excel, Office & Outlook

 

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift 60 lbs or more occasionally
  • Agility to avoid direct physical contact with unpredictable animals
